We don;t want Johnny's expressions to see too exaggerated all of the time - he is a slightly more serious child, studious almost, and he isn't that excitable. The isn't to say we want to portray him as moody, but w want his personality to contrast with the Cakeman's very enthusiastic personality. Some expressions would still be quite exaggerated for effect, but I have tried to show more neutral ones for Johnny.
