AA: Desserts in Animation 1

In my first search for desserts within animation, I found a lot of animation that used various parts of desserts for backgrounds, all of which made me quite hungry which may well be the only downside of this project. A lot of the backgrounds use primarily pastel colours, especially a lot of pink which is something to take into consideration for our animation. Pink is generally associated with 'sweet' anyway which is a large part of the dessert idea so mostly likely that is a colour we will be using a lot.

I like how the colour of the sky and water have been changed to fit in more with the pink and red colours used in the rest of the animation as a complementary colour palette. The green is a lot less saturated than the trees a and lot of the other more important parts of the background, so it doesn't distract too much from what you should be concentrating on. Even Ralpa and Vanellope's colour schemes fit in with here - their outfits have carefully been designed to look good with the backgrounds and places that the characters spend the most time in - something for me to consider when creating designs for this project.

Mario Kart Sweet Sweet Canyon
Mario Kart Tart Top
Mariokart uses a lot of the same colours and ideas as Wreck It Ralph. It is on the whole a lot less detailed though - important, because as a game location/track, too many objects and colours will distract from the objectives and the actual road. You need to be able to see everywhere, and not just where a film/show background wants you to see. As we are not creating a game, I don' have to think about that too closely, but it is good reference for keeping everything important visible.

One Piece/Toriko Crossover
The 'dessert island' (and this makes me want to get as many puns into out animation as possible) in the crossover episode of Toriko and One Piece uses a different colour scheme - more blues and yellows to give it a tropical colour scheme, which works well as an island and for me more fruity parts of the background, compared to mostly cream and sweets for the above to. The shapes are separate and defined, looking more like a spread or buffet (again, something that could be associated with islands - islands ---> holiday ---> buffet/catered food).

Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs
Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs brings us back to the sweet, pinkish colour scheme as before (again with greens and other pastelly complementary colours). Everything is round, making it look softer and friendlier which works well for ice cream since that is considered to be a very typical comfort food.
